Honouring Life, Love, and the Moments That Matter.
Spiritual care, compassionate grief support, personalized celebrations of life, and meaningful vow renewal ceremonies.
A welcoming, inclusive approach to life's most meaningful moments, with spiritual reverend services planned for Vancouver Island in 2027.
"Every life has a story. Every relationship has meaning. And every person deserves to be met with compassion, dignity, and respect."
Spiritual and non-religious services welcoming all beliefs, backgrounds, identities, and relationships.Spiritual, without needing to be religious.
You don't need to belong to a particular faith, follow a spiritual tradition, or believe in anything specific to feel welcomed and supported.
Your beliefs, your experiences, and your wishes are what matter.
Ceremonies can be spiritual, secular, reflective, traditional, contemporary, or a thoughtful combination.
A Compassionate Presence for Life's Important Moments
I'm Hilary, a Spiritual Reverend, Master Hypnotist, and founder of State of Mind Hypnosis & Training Centre.
For many years, my work has centred around listening to people's stories, exploring the deeper questions of life, and helping individuals find meaning in their experiences.
As a Spiritual Reverend, I bring that same thoughtful, grounded presence to spiritual care, remembrance ceremonies, and celebrations of enduring love.
I believe a meaningful ceremony doesn't need to follow a prescribed formula. It should reflect the people at its heart, honouring their personalities, values, relationships, and stories.
Whether you're navigating grief, remembering someone you love, or celebrating the journey you've shared with your partner, my role is to listen, understand, and help create an experience that feels genuinely yours.
Three Ways I Can Support You
Every experience is personal. These services offer a starting point for creating something meaningful, supportive, and true to you.
Spiritual Care & Grief Support
Grief doesn't follow a schedule, and it doesn't always fit into words.
Spiritual care offers a quiet, compassionate space to speak openly, reflect, remember, and explore questions of meaning and loss.
You don't need to have a spiritual belief system, and there is no expectation to find answers.
- Compassionate listening
- Grief, bereavement, and loss
- End-of-life reflection
- Questions of meaning and spirituality
- Honouring memories and relationships
- Support through difficult transitions
Celebrations of Life & Memorials
A life is so much more than a collection of dates and events.
It's the laughter, relationships, memories, stories, and little moments that made someone who they were.
Together, we can create a personal celebration of life that honours your loved one in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
- Family consultation and planning
- Personalized ceremony writing
- Sharing memories and stories
- Assistance with tributes and readings
- Spiritual or non-religious elements
- Compassionate ceremony leadership
Vow Renewal Ceremonies
Some promises are worth celebrating more than once.
A vow renewal is an opportunity to honour the life you've built, the experiences you've shared, and the love that continues to grow and change.
Whether intimate and quiet or shared with family and friends, your ceremony can reflect your relationship as it is today.
- Personalized ceremony writing
- Assistance with renewal vows
- Meaningful readings and reflections
- Optional symbolic rituals
- LGBTQ+ welcoming
- Spiritual or non-religious ceremonies
All ceremonies are personalized. Final pricing depends on the scope, location, preparation, and travel required. Services are subject to availability.
Remembering Someone in a Way That Feels Like Them
Not everyone wants a traditional funeral service.
Some families prefer a gathering filled with stories, music, and laughter. Others want a quieter, reflective ceremony that creates space for both love and sadness.
There is no single right way to remember someone.
My approach begins with listening to the people who knew them best. Together, we explore the moments, qualities, and memories that made their life unique.
I can help with both planning the meaningful elements of the ceremony and leading the celebration itself.
Your Ceremony May Include
A personal tribute to your loved one
Stories shared by family and friends
Favourite music, poetry, or readings
Moments of silence and reflection
A symbolic remembrance ritual
Spiritual reflections, if desired
A meaningful closing farewell
These are possibilities, not requirements. Your ceremony will be shaped around your family's wishes.
All Love. All Beliefs. All People.
I proudly welcome LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and non-binary people.
Your identity, your relationships, your chosen family, and your story deserve to be honoured with the same warmth, dignity, and respect as anyone else's.
I also welcome people of different faiths, spiritual traditions, and those who identify as non-religious, agnostic, or simply human.
You will never be expected to adopt my beliefs. This is about honouring yours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be religious to use your services?
Not at all. My services are available to people of all beliefs and backgrounds, including those who are spiritual but not religious and those who prefer a completely non-religious approach. Your wishes guide the experience.
Are your ceremonies LGBTQ+ inclusive?
Absolutely. LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families are warmly welcomed. I create personalized ceremonies that respect your identity, relationships, language, and chosen family.
Do you perform legal marriages in British Columbia?
No. I do not offer legal marriage solemnization or marriage registration services in British Columbia. My vow renewal ceremonies are symbolic celebrations and do not create or change legal marital status.
Can we have a celebration of life without religious prayers?
Yes. Your ceremony can be completely secular, gently spiritual, or include specific readings and traditions meaningful to your family. There is no required religious content.
Can you help write a tribute or celebration of life ceremony?
Yes. I can work with your family to gather memories, organize meaningful elements, and create a personalized ceremony. We can discuss the amount of planning and writing support you would like.
What happens during a spiritual care session?
Spiritual care is a private conversation where you can speak openly about grief, loss, meaning, memories, and whatever is on your heart. It is compassionate, non-clinical support rather than psychotherapy or mental health treatment. You set the pace and decide what you wish to share.
Can we include family members in a vow renewal ceremony?
Certainly. Children, family, friends, and chosen family can be included through readings, shared reflections, symbolic gestures, or other meaningful elements.
Where on Vancouver Island will you offer ceremonies?
I'm planning to serve the Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Courtenay, and Comox Valley areas, subject to confirming my relocation, location, and availability. Other locations may be considered by arrangement.
How much notice do you need?
As much notice as possible is appreciated for personalized ceremonies. I understand that celebrations of life sometimes need to be arranged within a shorter timeframe. Please reach out to discuss your circumstances and current availability.
Your Story Matters.
Whether you're honouring someone you've lost, seeking a compassionate space for grief, or celebrating a love that has grown through the years, I'd be honoured to hear from you.
Tell me a little about what you're looking for, and we can explore what feels right.
